Ok, we know that you won’t really be thinking about the airports along your RTW route but you’ll be spending some unexpected time in one or more of them most likely. That unexpected extra time at the airport can come from delays, strikes, or bad weather but there are some airports around the world that aren’t too bad to get stuck in.
It’s not the ideal situation but many of these best airports to sleep in have massage parlors, free Internet connections, and even beds and sections designed to house stranded passengers.
Singapore Changi Airport
There are no armrests on the chairs throughout the airport making it easy to find a place to stretch your legs especially when the airport isn’t too busy (between 9am and 3am). Singapore Changi Airport also has 6 garden areas, two lounges with napping areas, and good security throughout the facility.

Hong Kong International Airport
It’s true that many of the best airports to sleep in are in Asia, a place where comfort seems designed into many travel facilities. The seats are relatively comfortable to sleep in, there is free wi-fi, and Hong Kong International Airport also has places to eat, most of which are open 24 hours.

Dubai International Airport
Dubai International Airport is huge, covering over 1.8 million square feet and has one of the largest duty free shops in the world. There are regular free lounges or premium lounges that run about $40 at Dubai International Airport.

Ataturk International Airport
Free Internet and coffee shops that stay open very late, Ataturk International Airport has very comfortable couches throughout that you can use to catch some sleep on. It’s also a good airport for shopping and while the prices aren’t cheap, they’re certainly not as exaggerated as other European airports.
